Extreme Heat Warning

Taking precautions is the most important way to prevent heat-related illness, such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and heat cramps, as well as heat-related death.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Tuesday, August 25 through Friday, August 28,

Eastern San Fernando valley is in the RED area = Extreme Heat Warning (Dangerously hot weather, creating a high risk of heat-related illness for everyone.)

Risk of Heat-Related Impacts

0 - Green = Little to no risk from expected heat.

1 - Yellow = Minor - Primarily affects those who are extremely sensitive to heat and without cooling/hydration.

2- Orange = Moderate - Affects those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without cooling/hydration, and some health systems and industries.

3 Red = Major - Affects anyone without cooling/hydration as well as health systems and industries.

4 Magenta = Extreme - Rare and/or long-duration extreme heat with no overnight relief affecting anyone without cooling/hydration as well as health systems, industries, and infrastructure.
