DO YOU WANT OUR COMMUNITY OF SHADOW HILLS TO BE SPLIT UP INTO TWO OR THREE CITY COUNCIL DISTRICTS?
At the Redistricting Commission meeting on Monday night, they seem to have settled on two possible maps, both of which have divided Shadow Hills into more than one district AND have separated Shadow Hills away from other horsekeeping and high-fire communities. You can see the maps at the links below. To see more detail of each district that Shadow Hills has been divided into, scroll down to the specific district to see the street boundaries.
It is an understatement to say that neither map is beneficial to Shadow Hills. This division of our neighborhood dilutes our voices. Because The LACCRC has extended the deadline to receive public maps and Community Of interest testimony through Friday, October 1st at 12pm, it is not too late to contact the committee to tell them what our Shadow Hills Community needs:
1. We want Shadow Hills to stay in ONE Council District, not divided up. Our historically rural community has unique interests that must be protected.
2. We want all horsekeeping/animalkeeping and High-Fire-Mountain Fire District communities (Lake View Terrace, Sylmar, Shadow Hills, La Tuna Canyon) to be in the same ONE district (as they currently are in CD7). This allows our communities to advocate for our common interests as one united voice.
Please call or email the Redistricting Commission BOTH TODAY and TOMORROW to let them about our community’s needs. An email can be quickly and easily cut and pasted, and BCC'd to many people. (Don't forget to include your contact info and address.)
