Dear Neighbor,

It is an honor to represent Council District 7, a community that I have called home my entire life. It is a special place made up of beautiful and diverse neighborhoods and I am pleased to share with you the progress we have made this year to improve public safety, build community, expand opportunities for youth, deliver resources and address homelessness.

To read the full list of our mid year accomplishments please visit my website and below are a few highlights for your review:

  • Installed 10 speed feedback signs along Foothill Boulevard in Sunland-Tujunga, a pedestrian hybrid beacon on Wyngate Street and Foothill Boulevard, and a left-turn phasing signal at Mount Gleason Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
  • Installed a new traffic light on Orion Avenue and Plummer Street.
  • Completed design for new signal upgrades and bike/pedestrian improvements for Mission Mile, a transformative project on Sepulveda Boulevard between Ryan Street and Rinaldi Boulevard.
  • Installed two new pedestrian hybrid beacon crosswalks on Hubbard Street and Aztec Street, near Osceola Elementary School and on Olive View Drive and Bucher Street near Olive View Hospital.
  • Continued the CD 7 RV Encampment to Home Program, where 139 individuals have successfully transitioned into housing and 97 RVs have been disposed of permanently.
  • Secured $1.5M for the completion of Stetson Ranch Park improvements, including trail entrance improvements, new lighting and security cameras, site grading and soil stabilization, irrigation, trans cans, decorative entrance gate, picnic seating, bleachers, round pen, ADA Access Route, Arena PA system hook-up, and shade structure over bleachers and picnic area.
  • Partnered with the Urban Forestry Division to trim over 2,100 trees and remove dead trees and stumps as part of the 2024 East Valley Grid Trimming.
  • Hosted the first of its kind large scale Emergency Preparedness Event and Resource Fair at Hansen Dam in partnership with City Departments to coordinate safety drills and update emergency evacuation plans across our district and the San Fernando Valley.
  • Installed and completed a new decorative gate at Roger Jessup Park Community Garden, depicting garden elements and led a garden cleanup.
  • Partnered with the Los Angeles Community Investment for Families Department to host a Free Tax Day that served 73 clients and generated $153,702.00 in refunds for families.
  • Partnered with CityPlants, LADWP, and LASAN to give away 100 shade trees for Earth Day

This year has been productive and our continued progress is achieved with the support of community members reaching out to my offices, helping us identify what needs to be improved and I thank you for this partnership.

The show was amazing.  Thank you to CD7 for hosting!
