As Los Angeles continues to confront the lasting impact of recent wildfires and prepare for future risk, MySafe:LA remains committed to a balanced program of recovery support, wildfire prevention, public education, and community awareness. These town halls are designed to help residents, community leaders, Fire Safe Councils, neighborhood organizations, and concerned Angelenos stay informed, ask questions, and connect with practical resources.

Some of the exciting things we’ll cover include:

NFPA Firewise Activities Update

Executive Director David Barrett will share an update following his meeting with Michele Steinberg, NFPA Director for Wildfire, regarding important core objectives connected to the NFPA Firewise initiative and its role in helping communities organize, reduce risk, and strengthen neighborhood resilience.

UCLA Sustainability Update on Recovery and Resilience

We are pleased to welcome Nurit Katz, Chief Sustainability Officer for UCLA Sustainability. Each month, UCLA brings valuable insight into urban fires, ember casts, vegetation survivability, resilience planning, and other issues affecting communities across the region. For those who are unable to attend daytime meetings, this town hall is an excellent opportunity to get up to speed on key topics that matter to all of us.

New Geophysical Artificial Intelligence for Wildfire Risk

We will also introduce FireScore, a new technology being developed to help fire departments and communities identify and prioritize parcel-level wildfire risk, evaluate structure-adjacent conditions, and support firefighter-augmented decision-making before a fire starts. Founder Alex Momand will discuss the evolution of the product, recent demonstrations in Los Angeles, and the future potential of this important technology.

Wildfire Day L.A. at the Autry Museum of the West

MySafe:LA, in collaboration with a strong group of partners, is excited to announce Wildfire Day L.A. at the Autry Museum of the West. The day will begin with a free pancake breakfast and will feature activities for children and families, including free fire safety books, a fire station bounce house, face painting, and hands-on fire safety activities. Educational sessions for parents and adults will also be offered.

We’ll also share how you can access and watch a wide array of our past wildfire virtual town halls. They’re up and running!
