WHO WE ARE

AHEAD With Horses (AWH) is a therapy program which utilizes vaulting (gymnastics on a moving horse) to provide various physical, mental, emotional, and social benefits to special needs, disadvantaged, and disabled children. Many of those we serve previously have not responded to traditional forms of therapy and/or education, or are not eligible for other services.

The relationship between disabled children, therapeutic riding instructors, and our special therapy horses is the catalyst to miracles in the lives of children with disabilities. The horses provide a sense of comfort and companionship. This unique dynamic, which cannot be replicated by a machine, inspires magical results which we are honored to witness each day. At AHEAD With Horses, every child learns, achieves, and finds success.

AHEAD With Horses, Inc. (AWH) is a 501(c)(3) equine therapy organization established in 1968 for disabled children 12 and under. Serving those in need throughout the Los Angeles Area—in Shadow Hills and Brentwood—AWH is recognized nationally and internationally for the work we do.
